Josh Bissell

Josh currently serves as the Director of MDT Training and Initiatives for Children's Advocacy Centers of Michigan, where he has the honor to spend his time directly with Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) leadership, staff, and their multidisciplinary partners. Serving as a master consultant in the National Children’s Alliance CAC accreditation standards as well as a subject matter expert in forensic interviewing, multidisciplinary teamwork, organizational resiliency, and forensic medical development, he enjoys sharing in the growth and development of new programs as they build towards accreditation for the first time. His favorite part of his job is participating in or leading statewide initiatives and workgroups with the goal of developing new resources, guidance, and protocols for the teams serving kids in Michigan.

Coming to Michigan as a transplant from New Orleans, he previously worked at the New Orleans Police Department as a licensed social worker tasked with developing the first social work unit embedded within a specialized investigation unit. He has worked in that capacity serving the Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, and adult Sex Crimes units (Special Victims Section) and served as a forensic interviewer and case manager for the New Orleans CAC. He’s the lucky dad of two dynamic kids and spends most of his free time designing and playing board games with his friends and family.
